Transforming Connectivity

The Challenge

The City of Cockburn's existing intranet faced significant challenges that hindered its effectiveness in supporting staff in their daily operations. It was underutilised, with staff struggling to access relevant documents and updates, often resulting in important messages being overlooked. It lacked engaging features that would encourage regular interaction and contributions from users.

Compounding these issues was a complex navigation system that made it difficult for staff to find the information they needed, leading to frustration and decreased productivity.

The Solution

Dapth proposed a comprehensive solution to revitalise the City of Cockburn’s intranet by implementing the Kentico CMS platform, which offered a user-friendly interface and robust content management capabilities. We focused on enhancing the intranet's functionality by creating custom page templates that allowed different user groups to manage their own content efficiently.

To improve accessibility, we integrated a powerful site-wide search feature and redesigned the homepage to include essential web parts for quick access to documents, news, and updates. Additionally, we established individual landing pages for each directorate, streamlining access to relevant information.

Recognising the importance of staff engagement, we also provided extensive training sessions on the Kentico Form Builder and other tools to empower users to fully leverage the new platform, fostering a collaborative and interactive environment.

A profound impact

By leveraging the robust capabilities of the Kentico CMS platform, we addressed key challenges faced by the council, resulting in a more engaging, accessible, and user-friendly intranet.

The redevelopment of the City of Cockburn’s intranet led to significant improvements across various areas. Staff began to engage with the intranet regularly, utilising it as a primary resource for information, which resulted in a notable increase in daily interactions. The enhanced search functionality and intuitive design greatly reduced the time employees spent locating documents and relevant information, boosting overall efficiency.

Communication was streamlined, with key messages effectively reaching all staff members, ensuring important updates were not overlooked. Furthermore, the training initiatives empowered employees to manage their own content, fostering a culture of collaboration and self-sufficiency within the organisation.
