City of Belmont gets a new digital look

Out with old, in with the new

We are so proud of the City of Belmont, taking a website from the dark ages to what is now a leader in the local government web arena. They have a fitting look for a council that represents a vibrant and active community, and provide residents with a huge wealth of resources and information. Did you know they have an epic library, their own museum and events happening all year round?

Digital independence and freedom

Our development team packed the website with a diverse range of features and integrations that seamlessly synced with other 3rd party tools. Integration allows web features to leverage data from Technology One ECM, Active Directory, Intramaps and more. Our personal highlight will always be the Technology One ECM integration - by far the largest integration on the site. You can see it in operation here https://www.belmont.wa.gov.au/discover/places-to-go/your-neighbourhood. Technology One ECM did have APIs available, but they were extremely slow, so our team wrote custom APIs to obtain data directly from Technology One ECM using over 200 lines of custom developed SQL commands. Document data is obtained, and document meta data fields are mapped from ECM fields to a Kentico Page Type, including custom workflow and other logic based on the meta data field values. To everyone else this means thousands of document records are seamlessly imported and leveraged from a 3rd party database.

Kentico Xperience was the DXP foundation

At a high level the content management functionality gave a robust way to implement and build styling and page templates, and at a granular level, the integrations with custom data tables gave unlimited possibilities for the cloud based platform to consume and publish data. The project kicked off with UX/UI workshops, assessing persona's and user types, then went through requirements documentation, build, testing and launch. The functional requirements for this project alone was was 47 pages and over 20,000 words, from award date to go-live date was close to 12 months.

We love a good integration

Are you next for a digital revolution?

So what we are trying to say is sometimes a website does more than looks pretty (and just show what day is bin collection day). At the end of the project we delivered a fully mobile responsive design, considerably reduced website licensing costs and maintenance costs, migrated old content to a new platform, fully trained staff to be independent of us, put in place advanced user journeys to manage content with ease, and the site is fully secure no matter what those hackers may attempt.

From day one it was clear that Dapth have extensive expertise and an honest no-nonsense approach to building our digital presence. The team were able to anticipate our needs according to initial discussions and make appropriate recommendations. They were highly responsive throughout the build and after launch they have continued to provide excellent technical support and advice whenever we've needed them.

What Dapth did with the Kentico platform has transformed Perth Zoo from a 9 to 5 business to a 24 hour business. Comparing the first month of general admission sales to the previous year there has been a significant increase in online sales and an increase in total sales, indicating its not just a transfer from onsite to online sales activity...online sales have increased efficiency for all patrons (less queue time) and administrative staff.
